James Kevin O'Connor, (born September 1, 1979 in Dublin) is a professional footballer. He currently plays for Burnley F.C.. The midfielder was signed by Burnley on transfer deadline day of 2005 for a fee of £175,000 from West Bromwich Albion.
Before signing for WBA in the summer of 2003 for a fee of £250,000, he played for Championship side Stoke City. At Stoke City, he played under manager Steve Cotterill who is the current manager of Burnley FC.
Before signing for Burnley F.C., he spent a successful three-month loan spell with them in the 2004/2005 season. During this season, he only made two substitute appearances for West Brom and so signed for Burnley to pursue first-team football.
A hard working and tough midfielder, the former Ireland Under-21 star will never give up on a lost cause and his tireless efforts have won over many fans at the clubs he has played for to date, with his form at the start of the 2006-07 season at Burnley being among the best of his career. However, by the start of the 2007-08 season he seemed to be relegated to a squad player's role.
His younger brother Danny O'Connor (footballer) plays for Shamrock Rovers.
