Barbara Jane Horrocks, known as Jane Horrocks, (born January 18, 1964) is an English actress.

Horrocks was born in Rawtenstall, Lancashire, England; to John Horrocks (a sales representative) and Barabara Ashworth (a secretary). She went to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and joined the Royal Shakespeare Company. She lives with the UK writer Nick Vivian and they have a son, Dylan, and a daughter, Molly.

While working on Road, a play directed by Jim Cartwright, she used to warm up by doing singing impressions of Judy Garland, Dame Shirley Bassey and Ethel Merman, amongst others. Cartwright was so impressed with her that he wrote the play and the movie Little Voice just to show off her talent.

Horrocks cohabited with singer songwriter Ian Dury for approximately two years in the 1980s.

Her first television role was as Louise in Jim Cartwright's play Road in 1987.

Other notable credits include: Absolutely Fabulous, Bad Girl, Boon, Heartland, Henry IV, Hunting Venus, La Nonna, Leaving Home, Never Mind the Horrocks, Nightlife, Wyrd Sisters, Red Dwarf, Some Kind of Life, Suffer the Little Children, The Storyteller, The Garden, Spot the Dog (Spot's Musical Adventures and the revoiced release of The Adventures of Spot), Fifi & the Flowertots and Welcome to the Times. She was also the subject of an episode of genealogy documentary Who Do You Think You Are? (2006).

In 2006, Horrocks played the lead role in the television series The Amazing Mrs Pritchard about an ordinary woman who is elected Prime Minister.

In the 1990s Horrocks starred alongside Prunella Scales in a series of high profile adverts for Tesco.

Horrocks can frequently be spotted in the audience of hit show Strictly Come Dancing of which she is a fan.
