Jennifer Miller

Jennifer Miller (born 1961) is an entertainer, writer and a university professor. Miller is a professor for the UCLA Department of World Arts and Cultures. She is a bearded woman, juggler, and fire eater. Miller lives in New York City.
Miller was born into a family of two Jewish-turned-Quaker professors; her mother died when she was in her early 20s. Miller got involved in the performing arts and theater while in high school, and was involved in the downtown dance scene in New York in the early 80s. In her career as a performing artist, which has spanned over 20 years, she has performed with numerous choreographers and dancers, several circus companies, and at the historic Coney Island SideShow.
In 1989, she founded the acclaimed NYC political performance troupe Circus Amok and has remained its director ever since. She was also a focus of Tami Gold documentary Juggling Gender. Miller has received an Obie and Bessie Award for her work. She teaches in New York and California at several universities including UCLA, Cal Arts, Scripps College and NYU.
