Jeremy Sinden

Jeremy Sinden (14 June 1950-29 May 1996), born in London, was an English actor.

Sinden was born into a theatrical family, both his parents were actors. His father is Sir Donald Sinden and his mother, Diana, Lady Sinden, née Mahony. He was educated at Edgeborough and Lancing College, then went on to the Pitlochry Festival Theatre to train as an assistant stage manager. He spent two seasons in Stratford-upon-Avon with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1970-71 and appeared in pantomime and rep in Bournemouth, Farnham, Leatherhead and Windsor. He spent one season at the Chichester Festival Theatre. He then decided to enrol at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) where he spent three years and won the Forsyth Award.

He made his acting debut in 1972 in Journey's End on stage and his film debut in Star Wars (1977). He appeared in such films as Chariots of Fire (1981), Madame Sousatzka (1988), The Object of Beauty (1991), and The Innocent (1993). His work on television included appearances in Brideshead Revisited, The Far Pavilions, Lord Mountbatten: The Last Viceroy, Middlemarch, The House of Windsor and As Time Goes By.

Sinden was the husband of the actress Delia Lindsay from 1977 until his death. They had two daughters, Kezia and Harriet. He was also the brother of actor and theatre producer Marc Sinden.

He died in London of lung cancer in 1996.
