Jim Farry

James "Jim" Farry is the former Chief Executive of the Scottish Football Association. He was sacked in 1999 for Gross Misconduct after deliberately delaying Celtic footballer Jorge Cadete's registration. Fergus McCann, acting in his capacity as Celtic Managing Director, complained to the SFA that Jim Farry had wilfully delayed the registration of Jorge Cadete, leaving him unable to play for Celtic during a run of vital matches.

The incident is highlighted by Celtic fans who claim that there is a history of bias against their club, many believing that had Cadete been able to play Celtic would have fared better in the league, as he was a prolific scorer once his registration was completed.

Farry also came under fire when he ordered a Scotland international match to go ahead on the day of the Princess of Wales' funeral. He later revealed that he had been advised by Buckingham Palace to let the game go ahead.
