JoAnne Carner

JoAnne Carner (b April 4, 1939 Kirkland, Washington) is an American professional golfer.
She attended Arizona State University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
Born JoAnne Gunderson, she turned professional after an extended amateur career during which she accumulated five U.S. Amateur titles including the United States Girls Junior Amateur Golf Championship, ranking her second only to Glenna Collett with six.
She won forty-three events on the LPGA Tour, including one win as an amateur and two major championships, namely the 1971 and 1976 U.S. Opens. She topped the LPGA Tour's money list in 1971, 1982 and 1983, and finished in the top ten on the money list twelve times between 1971 and 1984.
In 1981, she was voted the Bob Jones Award, the highest honor given by the United States Golf Association in recognition of distinguished sportsmanship in golf.
She is nicknamed "Big Mama" [1].
