In 1995, he was traded to the Canadiens, along with Andrei Kovalenko and Martin Rucinsky for Patrick Roy and Mike Keane. After playing with the Canadiens, he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks for Eric Weinrich, Jeff Hackett and Alain Nasreddine. In the 2002-03 season, he made his first appearance in the 2003 NHL All-Star Game.
