John McGrath (born March 27, 1980 in Limerick, Ireland) is a professional football player and currently plays in midfield for Nationwide Conference side Burton Albion.

McGrath started his career at Aston Villa but after making only three appearances he failed to make the grade and went out on loan to Dagenham & Redbridge[1].

He was then signed by Doncaster Rovers on 10 July 2003 in time for the start of their first campaign back in the Football League after being promoted from the Nationwide Conference[2].

He spent two months on loan at Shrewsbury Town[3], before signing for Kidderminster Harriers in January 2005. In May 2005, McGrath was released from Kidderminster Harriers, having been sent off in his last game, away to Northampton Town on 7 May.

McGrath then joined Limerick but left the club to join Conference South side Weymouth in January 2006.

McGrath was only at Weymouth for a short period before joining Nationwide Conference side Tamworth in summer 2006[4].

On 10 May 2007, McGrath and Tamworth team mate Jake Edwards joined local rivals Burton Albion following Tamworth's relegation from the Nationwide Conference[5].

Before embarking on a professional soccer career, he was an outstanding underage hurler and Gaelic footballer for Monagea.
