Johnette Napolitano

Johnette Napolitano (born September 22, 1957, Hollywood, California) is the lead singer and songwriter and bassist of Concrete Blonde, best known for their #1 U.S. Modern Rock hit 'Joey'.

She has also recorded as a solo artist, with the albums Sketchbook (2002) and Sketchbook 2 (2006), and as a member of Dream 6 (a precursor to Concrete Blonde). As well, she founded two side projects: Vowel Movement, a semi-improvisational musical collaboration with Holly Beth Vincent, and Pretty and Twisted, a band that also featured former Wall of Voodoo guitarist Marc Moreland.

She is a resident of Joshua Tree, California, and a composer of music for films as well as creating a respectable reputation as a gallery artist, specializing in working with discarded and reclaimed materials.

She has contributed music to many films, including the 2006 Australian film 'Candy' featuring Geoffrey Rush and Heath Ledger.

Most recently Johnette again collaborated with Danny Lohner (NIN, A Perfect Circle, Black Light Burns)on the horror film 'Dead Silence'. The pair had successfully collaborated previously for the films 'Underworld' and 'Wicker Park'.

Johnette contributed vocals to the upcoming album by legendary artist/activist/former AIM (American Indian Movement) leader and icon John Trudell.

Johnette recently performed the main vocals on the score of the new Australian film West (2007 film) written and directed by Daniel Krige. She also sings the title song, "Falling in Love". West (2007 film) recently had its World Premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Johnette Napolitano's first solo album, 'Scarred', is set for release May 28,2007 on Hybrid Recordings out of NYC. Recorded in London, Los Angeles and the desert the tracks are produced by Will Crewdson of UK band Rachel Stamp and Sultan Ahmed of Livestock Entertainment, a conscious indie film company in the UK. Johnette is now slated to be the voice of an animated character in an upcoming Livestock production.
