From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joi Cardwell is a female African American dance and R&B music singer and songwriter from Queens, New York. She has had major success on the Hot Dance Club Play chart, where she placed eight songs in the top ten between 1995 and 2007. Two of her songs hit number one: "You Got to Pray" in 1996 and "Run to You" in 1997. She also lends her vocals to the works of other artists, most notably former Deee-Lite producer Towa Tei ("Luv Connection"), and Brooklyn Funk Essentials.
