Jonny Lee Miller (born Jonathan Lee Miller on November 15, 1972 in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, England) is an English actor. His grandfather was Bernard Lee, famous for playing the character M in the earlier James Bond films. Miller was the first husband of actress Angelina Jolie.

He was educated at Tiffin Boys' School in Kingston upon Thames where he gained his first acting experience and played in the Tiffin Swing Band. Miller left school, aged 17, to pursue his acting career.^[1]

After a stint in EastEnders as Jonathan Hewitt, Jonny Lee Miller got his big break in films with Hackers (1995), co-starring Angelina Jolie, whom he married the following year (they divorced three years later).

In 1997, Jonny Lee Miller was involved with the creation and operation of Natural Nylon along with friends Jude Law, Sadie Frost, Ewan McGregor, Sean Pertwee, Damon Bryant and Bradley Adams. Natural Nylon folded in 2003.

Aside from EastEnders he has appeared on television in the BBC's modernisation of The Canterbury Tales as Artie in The Pardoner's Tale and as Lord Byron in a BBC production about the life of the poet. He is currently working on the US television series Smith (CBS, Fall 2006). His previous appearance on US Television was the 1996 miniseries Dead Man's Walk.

Shortly after Hackers, Miller took a leading role in Trainspotting (1996), which brought him real notoriety. The accent he used in the film was so convincing that it led many people to erroneously believe he was a Scottish actor. In 1997, he played Billy Prior in the film adaptation of Pat Barker's World War I novel, Regeneration.

2000 saw him play Cameron Colley in Complicity (video title Retribution, based on the book by Scottish writer Iain Banks.

In 2005, he was considered for the role of James Bond, replacing Irish actor Pierce Brosnan. The role went to fellow British actor, Daniel Craig.

In 2006 he returned to Scotland to portray cyclist Graeme Obree in The Flying Scotsman. He was nominated for the Scottish BAFTA for best actor for his performance in the film, but lost to Tony Curran.

Jonny Lee Miller has been tapped to play the lead role in a new series for ABC, called Eli Stone. He will play the crazy,pschiotic character, a lawyer who finds out he might be a prophet.[1]

Jonny Lee Miller won the 1997 Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival Jury Award for best ensemble cast for Afterglow. He shares this award with Julie Christie, Nick Nolte, and Lara Flynn Boyle.
