Joseph Cultice

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joseph Cultice began his photography career in Phoenix, Arizona, where he was inspired by his love of rock'n roll and pop icons like KISS and David Bowie. He moved to New York City in 1990 and immediately began making an international name for himself as one of the few leading music photographers whose wide range of talents allowed him to cross over into the celebrity and fashion fields.

His first big break came with Nine Inch Nails, with whom he bonded immediately over similar aesthetics and vision. He was the man behind the award winning album cover for Marilyn Manson's "Mechanical Animals". He has shot a wide variety of world famous acts like N'SYNC, Björk, Moby, Nine Inch Nails, Destiny's Child, Macy Gray, Garbage, Boy George, Patti Smith, Beck, and underground artists such as Plastickman, Basement Jaxx, Sasha, and Digweed.

As a regular contributor to Vogue magazine and Entertainment Weekly, Joseph Cultice has also made his mark in celebrity portraiture. Recent sittings include Chloë Sevigny, Heather Graham, Gillian Anderson, Molly Ringwald, Greg Kinnear and the cast of Survivor among others.

Cultice's fashion work has been singled out by the annual 2001 Art Director's Young Guns exhibit, featuring one of his most recent stories. Joseph Cultice is also an accomplished video director with a best-selling full length video release feature under his belt, Marilyn Manson's documentary "Dead to the World".
