Joseph Marcell (born August 18, 1948 in St. Lucia) is a Caribbean-born British actor, best known for his work as Geoffrey the snooty English butler on the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He has a son born in 1979 and a daughter born in 1989. He serves on the board of the Globe Theatre in London and is a British citizen.

He also appeared in the Doctor Who serial Remembrance of the Daleks in 1988, as well as Renford Rejects in the UK.

Marcell has appeared twice in EastEnders. He first appeared as Adrian Bell, the builder called in to help repair the Queen Vic after Grant ravaged the place after hearing about Phil and Sharon's affair. In 2006 he appeared playing Aubrey Valentine, the potential father of Denise Fox, and adversary to Patrick Trueman.


For the week of March 11, 2007, Marcell has been hosting a week of Fresh Prince Episodes. He is suited in his old butler Suit and will say quotes from Geoffrey. Marcell states in one of the commercial cards that his accent in the show is authentic.
