Joseph Sinagra

Joseph Sinagra (born December 20, 1946, New Brunswick, New Jersey) is an American Republican Party politician, who was the unsuccessful candidate for the United States House of Representatives in New Jersey's 12th congressional district.

Singara is the son of parents Ciro and Rose Sinagra. Sinagra is the oldest of four children, a brother Ciro (deceased), two sisters Mary and Julie. Sinagra lives in Helmetta, New Jersey with his wife, the former Patricia Genito, where their children Joe, Jeff (deceased), and Michele were raised.

After serving in the United States Air Force 1st Air Commando Wing (TAC) during the Vietnam War era, Sinagra attended Middlesex County College and Union County College for Business Management. He has owned several small businesses, and is employed as Facilities Manager for Miele Corporate Headquarters located in Princeton, New Jersey.

He is the Vice Chairman of the Helmetta Republican Party, CEO of My Plumber Inc.

Sinagra previously served on the Helmetta Borough Council from 1989 to 1998, and returned in 1999 to fill in for a one year un-expired seat, and for seven years he served as Council President. Sinagra has also served as Chairman of the Helmetta Republican Party, and was the Republican nominee for Middlesex County Clerk challenging incumbent Democrat Elaine Flynn in 2005.

Sinagra was the Republican candidate for U.S. Congress in New Jersey's 12th congressional district, challenging incumbent Democrat Rush D. Holt Jr. in the 2006 mid-term elections, in a district that covers portions of Hunterdon County, Mercer County, Middlesex County, Monmouth County and Somerset County.

Holt defeated Sinagra by almost 2-1, earning 115,413 votes to Sinagra's 60,443. Sinagra's best results were in Middlesex County.[1]

The bare-bones campaign of Joseph Sinagra against Rush Holt received 35% of the vote, just 2% less than former Secretary of State Buster Soaries won in 2002 after spending $1 million and in a better year for Republicans.[2]
