The Journal Register Company NYSE: JRC is an American media company, specializing in newspaper publishing. The company owns 22 daily and 327 non-daily newspapers concentrated in an arc from New England to Michigan, including the Philadelphia area. The company recently moved its headquarters to Yardley, Pennsylvania from Trenton, New Jersey. The company, led by chairman and CEO Robert M. Jelenic, was carrying $740 million in debt in 2006, largely as a result of its purchases.
The transformation of one JRC newspaper, The Trentonian, is documented in Tabloid From Hell, a book written by Michael Raffaele, a former executive editor and sports editor. It tells how the paper changed from featuring "a mix of hard-hitting news, steamy sex stories and solid sports" into an "irrelevant" tabloid.

The company owns daily and weekly newspapers, other print media properties and newspaper-affiliated local Websites in the U.S. states of Connecticut, Michigan, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
JRC's flagship daily newspaper is the New Haven Register. Its largest daily newspapers (approximate daily circulation over 20,000) are:

- The News-Herald of Willoughby, Ohio (45,600)
- Delaware County Daily and Sunday Times of Upper Darby Township, Pennsylvania (45,700)
- The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens, Michigan (44,100)
- The Trentonian of Trenton, New Jersey (38,400)
- The Morning Journal of Lorain, Ohio (30,900)
- The Daily Local News of West Chester, Pennsylvania (28,700)
- Daily Freeman of Kingston, New York (21,500)
In 2004, JRC bought 21st Century Newspapers, gaining ownership of several daily newspapers in Greater Philadelphia.
In 2006, JRC bought the Web site JobsInTheUS.com. It is also a major shareholder in consulting company PowerOne Media.
In early 2007, JRC completed the sales of its former Massachusetts and Rhode Island newspapers to GateHouse Media and RISN Operations, respectively.
