Julian Alps

The Julian Alps (Slovenian: Julijske Alpe) are part of the Alps that stretch from north-eastern Italy to Slovenia, where they rise to 2864 metres at Triglav. They are named after Julius Caesar and are part of the Southern Limestone Alps.
Its most important peaks are:

- Jôf di Montasio/Montaž/Montasch; 2755 m (9039 feet)
- Škrlatica 2740 m (8990 feet)
- Mangart 2679 m (8789 feet)
- Jôf Fuart 2.666 m

- Razor 2601 m (8533 feet)
- Canin/Kanin 2582 m (8471 feet)
- Kanjavec 2568 m (8425 feet)
- Prestreljenik 2500 m (8202 feet)

- Krn 2244 m (7362 feet)
Important passes of the Julians are:
- Vršič, 1611 m (5826 feet), links the Sava valley and Soča valley. It is the highest mountain road pass in Slovenia.
- Predil Pass (Villach/Beljak by Tarvisio/Trbiž and Bovec to Gorizia/Gorica), paved road 1156 m (3792 feet)
- Hrušica/Birnbaumerwald (Ljubljana to Gorizia/Gorica), paved road 883 m (2897 feet)
- Saifnitz or Pontebba Pass/Tabeljski prelaz (Villach/Beljak by Tarvisio/Trbiž and Pontebba/Tablja to Udine/Videm), railway, paved road, Autobahn/autostrada/avtocesta 797 m (2615 feet)
