KSFQ-FM (101.1 MHz) is an American radio station licensed to White Rock, NM and serving the Santa Fe area. It was formerly owned by Clear Channel which has sold the station to Educational Media Foundation, a religious broadcaster. After Clear Channel went private in November 2006, they intended to sell most of their radio stations outside of the top 100 Arbitron markets, including their Santa Fe-only stations KSFQ and KBAC. After KSFQ and KBAC were sold to EMF, employees of KBAC intended on buying the station from EMF.
The station currently has a smooth jazz format called "The Cat" but in September 2006, Clear Channel launched another smooth jazz station on KABQ-FM 104.1, which has a stronger signal and covers both the Santa Fe market as well as most of the Albuquerque market. It is likely that KSFQ will switch to a religious format, most likely to the "K-Love" christian adult contemporary music network.
Over the years 101.1 White Rock has had an Oldies format as KNLA "LA 101" in the early 90's and a 70's hits format as KSFQ "Q 101" later in the decade. In 2000 it switched to Hot AC as "Mix 101" but would shift to rhythmic oldies after Clear Channel bought the station. It began the smooth jazz format in early 2005.
