Kafr El Sheikh Governorate

Kafr El Sheikh (Arabic: كفر الشيخ) is one of the governorates of Egypt. It lies in the north of the country along the western branch of the Nile. Its capital is the city of Kafr El Sheikh.

It was a part of Al Gharbiyah.
There is a lake called Buhayrat al-Burullus (Burullus Lake) in the north.
It comprises ten cities:
- Kafr El Sheikh
- Desouk
- Beila
- Kellien
- Metobas
- Al Riad
- Foah
- Balteem
- Saiedy
- Al Hamool
Industries include cotton-processing factories, rice and fishing.
Kafr ash Shaykh has many colleges and a university with more than 11 colleges.
