Katherine Lanpher

Katherine Lanpher, born May 27, 1959, was until recently a talk radio personality, and previously an award-winning journalist and newspaper columnist for the Saint Paul Pioneer-Press. Her career includes internships with the Muskegon Chronicle, the Detroit Free Press and the Chicago Sun-Times, where she danced her way through an investigation of dance studios. She has written free-lance articles and columns for publications including the New York Times.
As a columnist she also hosted a talk show for a Saint Paul commercial radio station. She was known even then as a liberal voice, although she was not strictly political. Critics often note her annoying laugh.
Prior to broadcasting, she was a columnist for the St. Paul Pioneer Press for 16 years before leaving to host Minnesota Public Radio's Midmorning program from August 1998 until January 20, 2004.
Lanpher co-hosted the Air America Radio program The Al Franken Show in 2004 and 2005. She left the show on October 7, 2005 to write a memoir concerning her move to New York City. The book is entitled "Leap Days: Chronicles of a Midlife Move" and was published on October 10, 2006.
In January, 2007, More magazine announced that Lanpher would host an hourlong weekly broadcast on XM Satellite Radio called "More Time" to debut January 16. The announcement described the broadcast as focusing on "health, fashion, beauty, travel, entertainment and other features directed toward women aged 40 and older."
