Kennet is a local government district in Wiltshire, England. Its council is based in Devizes. It is named after the River Kennet.
The district was formed on April 1, 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, by a merger of the municipal boroughs of Devizes, Marlborough, and Devizes Rural District, Marlborough and Ramsbury Rural District and Pewsey Rural District.
It contains the Devizes parliamentary constituency.
In July 2007, it was announced that Kennet District is to merge with North Wilts Council, West Wilts Council and Salisbury Council to form a Unitary Authority covering the whole of Wiltshire excluding the Swindon Unitary Authority.
