Presidential and parliamentary elections will be held in Kenya in December 2007.[1]

Incumbent president Mwai Kibaki declared on January 26, 2007 his intentions of running for the Presidential seat in the much anticipated 2007 General election[1]. So far 3 Major parties have stated that he will be their presidential candidate of choice in the coming general election. The parties are DP, NARC and Narc-Kenya.
The ODM-Kenya coalition is expected to field the strongest challenger for Kibaki. The main parties affiliated to ODM are LDP and KANU. At the 2002 elections LDP was part of the NARC movement backing Kibaki, but were dismissed from the cabinent after 2005 constitutional referendum. Kanu, on the other hand is a former ruling party, but the former president Daniel Arap Moi among is among its fraction which is opposing the ODM coalition.
Several ODM members are vying for presidency, among them are Kalonzo Musyoka, Raila Odinga, Uhuru Kenyatta, William Ruto, Najib Balala, Musalia Mudavadi and Joseph Nyagah [2]
Opinion polls by Steadman International released in October 2006, states that 41% of Kenyans would vote for Kibaki. His closest rival, Kalonzo Musyoka got 20% [3].
On December 21, Steadman released new opinion polls, with similar results compared to the previous one released three months earlier. Kibaki had a convincing lead with 42%, followed by Kalonzo Musyoka (20%) and Raila Odinga (14%) [4]
Steadman International released new opinion polls on March 31, 2007. Mwai Kibaki's popularity rose to 51%. Raila Odinga overtook Kalonzo Musyoka, with 17% and 14% of votes respectively [5].
