Kicking and Screaming (1995) is a film by Noah Baumbach about a group of college graduates who refuse to move on with their lives, each in his own peculiar way. The film, which starred Josh Hamilton, Chris Eigeman, Carlos Jacott, and featured Eric Stoltz, Olivia d'Abo and Parker Posey, premiered in 1995 at the prestigious New York Film Festival to critical acclaim. The movie's semi-success was partially due to a long run playing on the Sundance Film Channel, and became somewhat of a cult classic film. Baumbach--who later wrote and directed the more known film "The Squid and the Whale", and co-wrote "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" with longtime friend Wes Anderson--was chosen as one of Newsweek's "Ten New Faces of 1996". The film appeared in several "Top Ten" lists, and had a lengthy run playing on the Sundance Film Channel. It later became traditional at Vassar College that graduating seniors should watch Kicking and Screaming.[citation needed] The long awaited "Criterion Collection" DVD was released August 22, 2006 in the U.S.
