King Biscuit Flower Hour
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The King Biscuit Flower Hour is a syndicated rock and roll radio program that debuted on February 18, 1973. It is broadcast weekly by many radio stations in the United States. The show is produced by King Biscuit Entertainment, which originated as the King Biscuit Radio Network and later expanded to include King Biscuit Records and kingbiscuit.com.
Many performers who have been featured on the program, including April Wine, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Renaissance, Black Oak Arkansas, Deep Purple, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Foghat, Humble Pie, Kansas, Motörhead, Mountain, Pat Benatar, Pat Travers, Robin Trower, Rush, Styx, Ten Years After, The Alarm, Triumph, Uriah Heep and Zebra among others, have released their performances on album, also bearing the title King Biscuit Flower Hour.
Reportedly a studio fire is said to have destroyed many broadcast recordings. One popular broadcast tapped Comedian Dudley Moore to interview The Rolling Stones. Moore and Mick Jagger completed several Q&As with the fact that it was "Only Rock N Roll BUT I like it" repeatedly during an intoxicantly hilarious interview.
The name is derived from King Biscuit Time, a blues radio program first broadcast in 1941, sponsored by the King Biscuit Flour Company.
