Kingston Park

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For the place in Adelaide, South Australia, see Kingston Park, South Australia.

Kingston Park is a suburb 6 km north west of Newcastle upon Tyne city centre. It is home to several large retailers, the largest being one of Tesco's flagship stores - at 11,055sq m it is currently the largest supermarket in the UK [1] [2].

The area also houses the stadium of the same name which is home to the Newcastle Falcons rugby union team and also hosts the home football fixtures of Newcastle United's reserve team.

The suburb was largely built in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and its Metro station was not part of the original system, because the area did not have the required population density when the Metro was first planned. It was opened on September 15, 1985, four years after the Metro line had begun service.

Other Shops in Kingston Park include, Boots, Matalan, Tk maxx, Halfords, Currys, PC World, McDonalds and a Marks and Spencer food store.

Kingston Park also has a Tyne and Wear Metro station with direct services to Newcastle Airport, Newcastle City Centre and Sunderland.
