"Koi no Tsubomi" (Love Bud) is Kumi Koda's 31st solo under the Rhythm Zone label. It is her first single since the release of "Someday/Boys♥Girls" (2006) which ended off a 12 week project leading to the release of her second greatest hits compilation, Best ~second session~ (2006). "Koi no Tsubomi" was released on CD and CD&DVD May 24, 2006. "Koi no Tsubomi" is also the theme song to the drama "Busu no Hitomi ni Koishiteru", starring Goro Inagaki from SMAP. This single also smashed records[citation needed] by passing the 1,000,000 mark for legal mobile purchases in nine days. "Koi no Tsubomi" was also used as an image song to the United States release of the movie Cars.
