Kosai (湖西市; -shi) is a city located in Shizuoka, Japan.
As of 2005, the city has an estimated population of 44,057 and the density of 799.99 persons per km². The total area is 55.08 km².The city is divided into 3 sections, Washizu(鷲津), Shinjohara(新所原) and Shirasuka(白須賀). It is also home to Suzuki Motor Co. Ltd.'s Kosai assembly plant, Suzuki's main domestic production plant. The city was founded on January 1, 1972.
