Kulob

Kulob (Tajik/Persian:Кӯлоб/کولاب) is a city in Khatlon Region, Tajikistan. It is the fourth-largest city in the country.
It is the birthplace of both the current President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmonov and Canadian media entrepreneur Moses Znaimer.
Khatlon changed its name to Kulob in 1750. In 1921 the Soviet Union was established in Kulob and it was an industrial center.
In 2005 Kulob celebrated its 2700th anniversary.
