Kurali is a city and a municipal council in Rupnagar district in the Indian state of Punjab.
Some of Kurali's famous people include Ex MLA Raja Singh and Dhani Ram who passed away in 2004 who was a helper of poor people. There are many educational institutions in Kurali, the National Public school is very popular in the area. Kurali was once a city famous for trade. Traders from all over the region would come to Kurali for grains and other merchandise. Kurali has one railway station. Major Singh Nagra from a nearby village Khera is a well known broadcaster in Toronto Canada, where he runs his own 24/7 radio Station Watan and a Watan weekly Newspaper. Kurali has a Rotary Club and Lions Club. Punjab Motors is an agency which sells Heavy Duty Trucks.Kurali is famous for Swami ji nadi par wale and Gosian wala.There is an annual mela at Gosain wala(near railway station). Kurali is famous for hakims. The famous include Hakim Teja singh, Hakim Badan singh, Hakim Rajinder singh.Hakim Rajinder Singh was also Ex-president MC kurali.He actively supported congress and was also imprisoned with Indira gandhi.He was so generous, down to earth and helping person that people were allowed to enter his home anytime.Hakim Rajinder singh passed away in jan 2007.One famous singer named surjit Bindrakhiya also hailed form the native village "bindrakh".He was known for his traditional songs especially for his 34 seconds haiq(one breath loud scream).
