Kuzzey Buskirk

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kuzzey Buskirk (カズイ・バスカーク Kazui Basukāku?) is a fictional character from the anime series Gundam SEED. He is voiced by Yasuhiro Takato in the original Japanese version and by Keith Miller in the English dub.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

At the start of the series, Kuzzey lived peacefully on the neutral Orb space colony of Heliopolis with his family and his friends - Kira Yamato, Sai Argyle, Miriallia Haw, and Tolle Koenig. However, his peaceful life comes to an end when the colony is raided by ZAFT in search of prototype Earth Alliance mobile suits which have been secretly produced in the colony. As the fighting ultimately destroys the colony, Kuzzey and his friends end up as refugees in the care of the Earth Alliance battleship Archangel.

When Kira is unofficially drafted to pilot the remaining GAT-X105 Strike, Kuzzey and the others volunteer to help out. They are quickly assigned to bridge positions; Kuzzey is assigned as the communications operator. Although he was often fearful and reluctant of participating in the war, Kuzzey elected to stay during the first opportunity to leave since his friends declared they would stay.

After participating in further battles where he was faced with imminent death, however, he decided to leave. He almost changes his mind at one point because it looks as though he is the only one who says he wants to leave, but Sai tells him not to worry about what other people are doing and just stick by his decision.

It is assumed that Kuzzey escapes the dangers of the war in Orb with his family but their fate is never revealed in SEED or Destiny.
