Direct laptops
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Direct laptops are laptops that are shipped directly to you from the manufacturer. This often allows you to tell the company exactly how you would like the laptop to be built.
This idea is one of the main reasons that has made Dell so successful over the years.
Allowing your laptop to come straight from the manufacturer avoids the added costs of the "middle-man". When you purchase a laptop from a retailer, you are paying for that laptop to get shipped to that retailer. Also, you are paying for that retailer's loss of profits whenever their order of laptops do not get sold.
Companies that sell direct only make a laptop when there is an order, preventing additional costs from being incurred.
Many of the top laptop companies such as Dell, Toshiba, IBM and Apple Computer, among others, allow you to customize a laptop at their site. They will then build it and ship it directly to you.
