Lardal is a municipality in the county of Vestfold, Norway. It is divided into the parishes Svarstad, Styrvoll and Hem.

The Norse form of the name was Lagardalr. The first element is the genitive case of logr 'water; river' (here Numedalslågen). The last element is dalr m 'valley, dale'.

Until 1889 the name was written "Laurdal".

The coat of arms was approved in 1992 and shows a hulder.
