Larry, a municipal restraunt health inspector, is assigned a new rookie partner, Amy Butlin (Iris Bahr), by his boss, Bart Tatlock (Tom Wilson). Together, Larry and Amy work to solve a series of food poisonings at four-star restaurants.
Upon its release, the film debuted at #5 despite a low grossing, due to March's traditionally weak competition and box office returns. It stayed in the top ten for nine days following its release. As of January 1, 2007, the film has grossed a total of $15.7 million in the United States. [1]
The film, which was not screened for critics before its release, was universally panned by critics and avoided by moviegoers alike. Three days following its release, the film was ranked number one on IMDb's Bottom 100, and as of March 15th, 2007, it is ranked number #68 in the Bottom 100. It also currently retains a 6% rating from critics at Rotten Tomatoes[2].
Larry the Cable Guy (Dan Whitney) was nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actor for his performance.
