Laura Albanese

Laura Albanese is a Canadian news anchor for Italian language news programming on OMNI Television.

She was the Ontario Liberal Party candidate running in the February 8, 2007 by-election for the Ontario Legislative Assembly in the riding of York South—Weston. She lost to Paul Ferreira of the New Democratic Party.

Albanese has lived in the York South-Weston community for over 25 years. When she came to Canada from Italy, she rented her first apartment in the riding. She bought also her first home there, where she and her husband raised their two children.

Until taking a leave of absence to run for provincial office, Albanese served at OMNI TV as co-anchor of OMNI News: Italian Edition and Associate Producer of Italian News and Public Affairs Programming.

Albanese has volunteered for community groups and non-profit organizations such as: Easter Seals Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Sick Children's Hospital Telethon, Villa Charities, Caritas Project Telethon, Canadian Italian Business and Professional Association, Italian Trade Commission and Villa Leonardo Gambin Telethon.
