Limington is a town in York County, Maine, United States. The population was 3,403 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 112.1 km² (43.3 mi²). 108.8 km² (42.0 mi²) of it is land and 3.4 km² (1.3 mi²) of it (3.00%) is water.

What is now Limington was originally only a tract of land called Little Ossipee, after Ossapee, its original Native American name. In 1773, Deacon Amos Chase began the earliest settlement on the land. Dea. Chase built a home on the eastern side of the plantation where he found a waterfall, upon which he built the town's first mill.

Limington was incorporated as a town in 1792. As the surface of the land was rocky and broken, nearly 2,000 acres (8 km²) of land were annexed from the nearby plantation of Little Falls.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 3,403 people, 1,141 households, and 893 families residing in the town. The population density was 31.3/km² (81.1/mi²). There were 1,354 housing units at an average density of 12.5/km² (32.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.33% White, 0.41% African American, 0.47% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.12% from other races, and 0.44% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.29% of the population.

There were 1,141 households out of which 41.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.1% were married couples living together, 9.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.7% were non-families. 15.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.84 and the average family size was 3.15.

In the town the population was spread out with 27.4% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 23.3% from 45 to 64, and 11.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 96.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.4 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $42,023, and the median income for a family was $46,571. Males had a median income of $31,049 versus $23,966 for females. The per capita income for the town was $17,097. About 9.5% of families and 12.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 17.0% of those under age 18 and 5.9% of those age 65 or over.
