Lincs FM is an Independent Local Radio station serving Lincolnshire and Newark, from the Humber to The Wash. The Station has a 22.4% share of the audience within its TSA with people listening for an average of 12.9 hours a week (Rajar June 2006). Lincs FM broadcasts from studios at Witham Park in Lincoln, next to the River Witham at the far end of Waterside South where the river is crossed by the Nottingham-Grimsby railway. The building used to be the Titanic Works owned by the Clayton and Shuttleworth engineering company. Captain Roy Brown's Sopwith Camel, which shot down Manfred von Richthofen (the Red Baron) on April 21st 1918, was made in this building.

The main and far-reaching 102.2 FM signal comes from the Belmont transmitting station. It also has lower-powered frequencies in Grantham, south of the town near the bypass, on 96.7FM and Trent View Flats in Scunthorpe on 97.6FM. Lincs FM can be clearly heard in northern Nottinghamshire. The Belmont transmitter has Digital One and MXR Yorkshire multiplexes but does not transmit Lincs FM on DAB. The EMAP Humberside 11B multiplex transmits Lincs FM across East Yorkshire. The Lincolnshire DAB licence is expected to be advertised in November 2007, with a likely bidder in place by late 2008. The far south of the county (Spalding & Grantham) will not be covered, yet all of North and North-East Lincolnshire will be.

The strapline for the station is hits and memories.

The station has been a success, and unlike most radio stations in the UK, Lincs FM has remained independent forming Lincs FM Group. Lincs FM group has won licences to operate seven other local radio stations across the Midlands and Yorkshire:

• Compass FM serving Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Immingham (news bulletins read from the main Lincs FM studios in Lincoln)
• Dearne FM for Barnsley, Penistone and the Dearne Valley
• Fosseway Radio for Hinckley and Nuneaton
• Ridings FM broadcasting to Wakefield and the surrounding area
• Rother FM serving Rotherham and the surrounding area
• Rutland Radio for Rutland and Stamford
• Trax FM for Doncaster and Bassetlaw

Format is largely made up of golden oldie type records from the last 40 years and supplemented with a few contemporary easy listening hits.
