Lisa Madigan (born July 30, 1966 in Chicago) is the current and 41st Attorney General of the U.S. state of Illinois. She is a Democrat. Madigan is the first woman to hold the post, narrowly defeating Joe Birkett in 2002, achieving 50.4% of the vote. In 2006 she faced Tazewell County St. Attorney Stewart "Stu" Umholtz whom she beat for re-election, achieving 72.4% of the vote.

Her secondary education was done at The Latin School of Chicago. She received her bachelor's degree from Georgetown University in 1988. She graduated from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She was formerly in the Illinois Senate (19982002).

Lisa Madigan's stepfather is Michael Madigan, the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives. She is considered a possible candidate for Governor of Illinois or the Senate in the near future.
