List of Naruto video games
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a list of video games based on the popular manga and anime series Naruto.
Naruto video games have appeared on various consoles from Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, and even Bandai. The very first Naruto video game was Naruto: Konoha Ninpouchou, which was released in Japan on March 27, 2003 for the WonderSwan Color. Most Naruto video games have been released only in Japan. It wasn't until March 7, 2006 when Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen and Naruto: Saikyou Ninja Daikesshu were released in North America under the titles of Naruto: Clash of Ninja and Naruto: Ninja Council that any Naruto games were officially available outside of Japan. These games featured the voices from the English dubbed version of the anime. Recently, two new Naruto games for Nintendo DS and Wii have been revealed at the Tokyo Game Show. Also, the fifth installment to the Narutimate Hero series has been announced. There is also a new Naruto game coming for the Xbox 360, and a different one for the Playstation 3 it will be developed by CyberConnect2 in 2008. For now it is called Naruto: PS3 Project.

Like other Data Cards games, Narutimate Card Battle is an interactive card game, using real cards and 3D graphics to animate battles on screen. Also like other Data Cards games, which are often derived from Playstation 2 games, much of Narutimate Card Battle originates from Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 3.

Naruto RPG: Uketsugareshi Hi no Ishi is the first game in the Naruto RPG series, and re-tells the story in the manga from the beginning up until Naruto's first battle with Gaara. In America the game is called Naruto Path Of Ninja. The game starts off with a team of Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno, main characters of the series, and they are joined by like Rock Lee, Neji Hyuga, Shikamaru Nara. Jiraiya acts as a bonus character
With the release of the game, Nintendo released a bundle set which included a limited edition orange Game Boy Advance. The Game Boy had the Konoha leaf on it. Although this game never got released outside of Japan, a 'remake' has been made for American Audiences. The remake is called Naruto: Path of the Ninja and incorporates many features from RPG1. It also has menus and graphics taken from RPG3, however the story is indentical to RPG1. There is no online play avaliable.
Naruto RPG 2: Chidori vs. Rasengan is the second game of the series. A limited edition version of the game was created as well. This version has Sasuke on the cover, as well as on the manual and the game card. Its story spans from the quest for Tsunade until the fight between Sasuke and Naruto. The graphics of the game are significantly improved from the first game and every characters' sprites have been redrawn. The game adds many characters that can be switched out at various times in the story. It also deals with the hate and anger of Sasuke to Naruto.
Naruto RPG 3: Reijuu vs. Konoha Shoutai (translated as "The Sacred Beasts vs. The Konoha Team") is the third game. It has an original story situated during the filler arc at the end of the first part of the series. The graphics and gameplay are the same as the previous installment, and features many extra secret characters. There are around 35 characters in the game, including most of the Genin and Jounin, as well as the three Sannin, Itachi and Kisame. There is an online battle mode where you can fight against another person. You can choose a fixed level or use your own team's level.
Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles (うずまき忍伝 Uzumaki Ninden?) is a video game for the PlayStation 2 that is based on the popular manga and anime series Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto. Unlike the previous Naruto titles on the PS2 (Naruto: Ultimate Ninja and Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2), which were fighting games, Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles is an action/adventure game. This is also the first 3-D Naruto game not to use cel-shaded graphics. Bandai Namco has finished working on the sequel, Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles 2, which was released in Japan on November 16, 2006. The game is entirely translated and features no Japanese voice track.[1]
Due to the game being released too early for the dub viewers, content present in the game was either modified or removed. The presence of Itachi, Kisame, and Tsunade were completely wiped clean from the original in all FMV sequences and gameplay, while Gaara and Shikamaru had their costumes modified to their present dub costumes. Very strangely, Chouji's abilities to enlarge his arm were kept in the game despite being a spoiler from the Sasuke Retrieval story arc. Naruto's Rasengan was also kept in the game even though it came from the Search for Tsunade arc.
This game features mostly odd-jobs for Naruto to do (like find an ingredient for a candy maker, "advertise" (by beating up bandits) for a strugling shop owner, and more); but near the end, Naruto & friends learn that Orochimaru has created a new, deadly green mist that can kill living people and is using it to resurrect dead ninja to create a new army to destroy the Hidden Leaf Village. Naruto must find a way to stop him and save the village.
Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles 2 (known as Naruto: Konoha Spirits in Japan) is a video game by Bandai Namco. It is based on the popular manga and anime series Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto. This game is a sequel to Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles.
The game is an action RPG where the player travels across a map and completes missions to gain experience points in order to gain new abilities or increase their character's stats. Unlike its predecessor Uzumaki Chronicles, the game is not mission based. One can find the missions in a separate mode. The story mode shows Naruto facing the Shirogane clan, a group of ninja that control puppets called Puppet Walkers, who seek to revive the Master Puppet, their ultimate weapon that can destroy an entire nation.
The game is considerably short (only 10 stages), but the versus mode, the mission mode, and the survival provide a bit of replayability. There is also a second scenario starring Kakashi Hatake, much like Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2, in which the player faces Akatsuki members Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki as the main protagonists.
Naruto: Konoha Ninpouchou is a Japanese-only Role-playing game and the first and only Naruto game to appear on a Bandai console. It is a turn-based battle game, that places a large emphasis on the Zabuza arc of Naruto. The story actually expands on the first episode, and shows an average day in the life of Uzumaki Naruto (complete with his goggles and sexy jutsu).
Naruto: Konoha Senki is a Japanese-only strategy game for the Game Boy Advance. This game is considered as the best turn-based strategy of Naruto with many missions to fulfill and many characters to play. This game includes many of the main cast along with a special appearance by Masashi Kishimoto as a hidden character. This is also one of the few games that has Zaku, Dosu and Kin as fully playable characters, complete with Jutsus. You can also unlock Orochimaru to play as.
Naruto: Path of the Ninja is a role-playing game for the Nintendo DS. Naruto: Path of the Ninja was released in the United States on October 23, 2007.[2] It is an English exclusive version of the original GBA role-playing game as it covers episodes 1-80. More of a remake than a "made from scratch" title, it uses gameplay elements present in the entire series, while the control scheme comes straight from the original DS titles released in Japan.
Naruto: Rise of a Ninja is an Xbox 360-exclusive video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal, making it the first Naruto game to be developed by a non-Japanese company. The game is specifically based on the English dubbed version of the anime, and was released in North America on October 30, 2007. U.S. citizens who pre-ordered the game through GameCrazy stores received a limited edition Naruto faceplate. However, in recent ads for the game inside GamePro and GameInformer magazine, they stated that if the game was purchased at GameCrazy the Naruto faceplate would come with the game. This turned out to be false as the game must be pre-ordered to receive the Naruto faceplate. Ubisoft has also released a free ~60 mb package which includes the option to change the in-game voices to Japanese, while still keeping the English subtitles.[3]
The game itself consists of two major gameplay modes: one-on-one fighting and RPG, where Konoha serves as a main hub to access various missions players can go on. The main story mode alternates between these two modes, and takes place from the beginning of the series to the end of the Invasion of Konoha arc, with included sidequests. It features gameplay similar to that of a 3D platformer, like jumping acrobatically from rooftop to rooftop or racing through checkpoints, as well as having one-on-one brawls much like the Naruto: Clash of Ninja series. Like with most Naruto games, it features cel-shaded graphics.
The game also allows online versus multiplayer via Xbox live, enabling you to play with your friends.[4]. According to a video interview on Xboxyde.com, the game will also have downloadable content[5] , hinting towards new characters, in which four are revealed so far (Shikamaru, Choji, Jiraiya, and the 3rd Hokage), but is stated to have many more coming, while Shikamaru is now available.
Naruto: PS3 Project was announced at the Tokyo Game Show 2007 as an exclusive game for the PLAYSTATION 3. The only previews that were shown where two images and a sneak preview trailer that revealing four characters (Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Kakashi, and Kisame is not confirmed yet. Try to pause the video when the shark comes out and that is Kakashi.) although it is unknown if these characters will all be playable. The game is set to be released 2008.
Naruto: Shinobi no Sato no Jintori Kassen is a Japanese-only board game-style video game developed by Denyusha and Dimps and published by Bandai. The game uses various characters from the first arc of the series. You can play almost every single character from the Zabuza arc, including the Demon Brothers, the Demon Swordsmen Waraji and Zouri, Third Hokage and even Konohamaru. Mizuki is also playable. The story mode features extensive voicework, and lots of manga-inspired drawings. The gameplay is similar to Monopoly, and features duels between players if they land on another's square. If they beat the defender, they take the square as their own. If they fail to win, the defender gets points from the attacker. The points awarded depends on square location and level. Squares in different locations are worth more money (similar to the streets on monopoly). You get bonuses for every square that is next to another square of your colour. Squares can be upgraded, each one having higher point values, and more defender points.
Naruto: Shinobi Retsuden is a 3D fighting video game developed by Dream Factory and published by Takara TOMY for the Nintendo DS video game console. The fighting is set on an infinite-scrolling stage, much like the earlier Tekken games. The touch screen has six large buttons which are used to activate special effects and use items.[6] The gameplay and graphics are similar to the Naruto: Clash of Ninja series of fighting games on the Nintendo Gamecube.
The game has recieved mediocre reviews, mainly due to the simplistic gameplay, poor graphics, bad sound quality and few characters. Unlocking characters is done by going through story and arcade modes.
There are eight stages in this game and two different difficulty settings. There is a story mode, an arcade mode, a single match battle mode, and local wireless multiplayer mode. There is no single card play.
This is a new game being produced by Takara Tomy. The release date is set for 02/14/08 (Japan). From the magazine scans, it appears to be a free-roaming action game, similar to Zelda/Legacy of Goku. The game appears to cover the 'Rescue Gaara' arc, and includes Sai and Deidara. Confirmed characters so far are Naruto, with more expected to be confirmed.
