The following table presents a listing of Nigeria's state governors. Governors are elected for a term of four years (maximum of two terms). A minister appointed by the president oversees affairs in the Abuja Federal Capital Territory.

The current party affiliation of the 36 state governors is:

Abuja F.C.T. Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai PDP 2003 List

  1. Chris Ngige's 2003 election victory was overturned by the Nigerian Federal Court of Appeal on 15 March 2006 and he was replaced by Peter Obi on 17 March 2006. Obi was impeached by the Anambra State House of Assembly on 2 November 2006 and Dame Virginia Etiaba took office the following day.
  2. Goodluck Jonathan replaces Diepreye Alamieyeseigha (elected in 1999 and re-elected in 2003) who was impeached on 9 December 2005.
  3. Rasidi Adewola Ladoja reinstated by the supreme court on 7 December putting paid to the reign of the pretender Christopher Alao-Akala
  4. Joshua Dariye was suspended for a period of six months (18 May18 November) in 2004.
  5. Joshua Dariye was impeached on 13 November 2006 and was replaced by his erstwhile deputy, Micheal Botmang.
