On January 31, 1995, Dream Theater played a special show at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London, England. The show consisted entirely of cover songs, and a number of guest musicians performed with the band on selected songs.

Napalm Death's Barney Greenway performed the vocals on "Damage Inc." Marillion's Steve Hogarth sang on "Happiness Is a Warm Gun" and "Easter"; he also played keyboards on the latter, which also featured Marillion's Steve Rothery on guitar. Yes's Steve Howe played guitar on the Yes medley.

A number of songs from this performance have been officially released by Dream Theater:

• "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding", "Perfect Strangers", the Led Zeppelin medley, and "The Big Medley" were featured on the A Change of Seasons EP.
• "Red Hill Mining Town", "Tears", and "Damage Inc." were featured on International Fan Club Christmas CD 1996, the first bonus CD issued to members of Dream Theater's official fan clubs.
• "Damage Inc.", "Easter", and the "Starship Trooper" portion of the Yes medley were featured on the band's second home video release, 5 Years in a LIVEtime.

The remaining songs, while never officially released, have nonetheless been circulated on bootlegs.

During several shows in 2002, Dream Theater performed Metallica's Master of Puppets album in its entirety. In 2004, one of these performances was released on YtseJam Records as part of Dream Theater's "Official Bootlegs" series.

During several shows in 2002, and once again in 2004, Dream Theater performed Iron Maiden's The Number of the Beast album in its entirety. Their performance of this album on October 24th 2002 in Paris, France was released in 2005 on YtseJam Records.

During their 2003 tour with Queensrÿche, the two bands played a short set together at the end of each show. Songs played include Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb," various Who songs, and typically one DT song and one Queensrÿche song.

Gigantour, August 2, 2005
Joining Dream Theater on Stage at Nokia Live in Dallas were; Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, Burton C. Bell of Fear Factory, and Russell Allen of Symphony X. In honor of Dimebag Darrell, the three joined Dream Theater for their encore to play Pantera's "Cemetery Gates". Dream Theater started the song with James Labrie singing the first few lines of the verses. Russell Allen then continued where Labrie left off, with both Allen and LaBrie singing the chorus together. Russell Allen left the stage, and Burton C. Bell came out to sing the next chorus with Labrie. Dave Mustaine then came out and played the ending solo. James Labrie finished the song's vocals.

According to Mike Portnoy, this was a "one off" performance of the song, and most likely it won't happen anymore in the future.

This performance is included on the bonus disc of the Gigantour DVD.

On 11 October 2005 (Amsterdam) and 25 October 2005 (London), Dream Theater performed Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon album in its entirety. This was the third complete album they had covered, after Master of Puppets and The Number of the Beast. The London performance has since been released on YtseJam Records, both on CD and DVD.

Joining the band to perform the vocal solo in "The Great Gig in the Sky" was Theresa Thomason, who had previously worked with Dream Theater on their Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory album and the Metropolis 2000: Scenes From New York DVD.

On January 13, 2006 and January 15, 2006, Dream Theater performed Deep Purple's Made In Japan album in its entirety. This was the fourth complete album they have covered, after Master of Puppets (Metallica), The Number of the Beast (Iron Maiden) and The Dark Side Of The Moon (Pink Floyd). As with those performances, the performance of Made In Japan will be released on YtseJam Records.
