- ^ Although Gordon B. Hinckley announced[5] the acquisition of property in the southwest part of the Salt Lake Valley, the building of a temple there was not officially announced. The official news release following President Hinckley's announcement at General Conference said, "[He] indicated that a fifth Salt Lake-area temple site has been acquired in the southwest part of the valley for future use as Church growth continues."[6]
