List of unrecognized accreditation associations of higher learning

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Schools that lack legitimate accreditation often claim accreditation from an unrecognized source. In the United States, institutions of higher education must be accredited by agencies recognized by the United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation in order to have legitimacy in the academic community[3]. Students who attend institutions of higher education that are accredited through accreditation associations not recognized by the US Department of Education will not qualify for Title IV funding (Pell Grants, Stafford Loans, etc.).

The following is a list of unrecognized accreditation associations of higher learning, which should not be taken as exhaustive.
