Lithium nitrate is an oxidizing agent used in the manufacture of fireworks and flares. It is deliquescent.

Decomposition occurs by the following reaction:

4LiNO3(s) → 2Li2O(s) + 4NO2(g) + O2(g)

When held up to a flame, lithium nitrate makes the flame turn bright red.
