Little 4

The "Little 4" is a name coined by Redmonk analyst Cote to describe the alternative to the Big Four (systems management) companies: IBM, CA, Inc., BMC, and HP. These companies are the dominant IT management vendors in the large enterprise space. The Little 4 designation indicates a new breed of management company that are typically using open source to reduce commoditize and improve proprietary systems management software through increased user innovation and community. The Little 4 vendors are Groundwork Open Source, Hyperic, Qlusters (makers of OpenQRM), and Zenoss.
