Llandaff electoral ward of Cardiff

Llandaff (Welsh Llandaf llan church + Taf) is a district in the city of Cardiff, Wales, having been incorporated into the city in 1922, and is also the name of a diocese of the Church in Wales, covering the most populous area of south Wales.

Much of the cathedral's fabric dates from the 13th century. It was badly damaged by bombing during World War II, and subsequently restored by the architect George Pace. One of its main modern points of interest is the aluminium figure of Christ in Majesty (1954-5), by Jacob Epstein, which is suspended above the nave.

Llandaff is also home to a preparatory school (The Cathedral School), which Roald Dahl attended. Roald Dahl was also born here. Other famous births include singer Charlotte Church and choirmaster and organist Sir Ivor Atkins. BBC Wales have their headquarters there. The welsh artist Ivor Williams lived and painted in Llandaff House until his death in 1982. The independent GDST school, Howell's School Llandaff, is also based in the area and recently expanded from an all-girls school to include the co-educational Howell's Sixth Form College. It is also home to various popular celebrities such as Charlotte Church, Gavin Henson and Gwyn Davies a.k.a Glyn David, to name but a few. The area is served by rail at Llandaf railway station, and by local bus services 24, 25, 33, 33A, 60, 62, 62A and 122.

Due to the presence of the cathedral Llandaff is known as the "City of Llandaff" but is often termed 'the village' by locals.

The electoral ward of Llandaf falls within the parliamentary constituency of Cardiff North. It is bounded by Radyr & Morganstown to the north west; Llandaf North to the north; Riverside to the west; Canton to the south; and Fairwater to the west.
