Llanerchymedd

Llanerchymedd (also Llanerch-y-medd or Llannerch-y-medd) is a small village in Anglesey, north Wales, at grid reference SH415844. The Royal Mail postcode is LL71.
The village is situated near the centre of Anglesey close to the large water supply reservoir, Llyn Alaw, and is believed to have an ancient foundation. The word medd in the name is Welsh for mead which is made from honey, and there is speculation that the village may have roots in the production of honey or mead which might suggest a monastic or druidic origin. The Gaerwen to Amlwch passenger railway line runs through the village, though it is no longer a commercial line.
There is also a locally held belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus is buried in the village. However, why or how Mary should have found herself at the outer edges of the Roman empire at such a fraught time in the history of Anglesey is unknown. This theory is the subject of a book by the author Graham Phillips [1] entitled "The Marian Conspiracy".
