Living far in the future, shortly after the end of World War Nine, Lloyd Nebulon is a green-skinned alien (of the "Verdigrean" race) with strange ears and a single antenna sticking from his head. Lloyd lives in the Intrepidville Space Station along with his telekinetic and telepathic sister, Francine, and his mother, Commander Norah Li Nebulon, the Head of Intrepidville. Lloyds friends are: Eddie R. Horton (a ginger-haired American teenage human), Kurt Blobberts (an enormous purple blob with a single eyeball and simple intelligence, of a species known as "The Blobullons"), Douglas McNoggin (a giant brain with arms, feet, eyes and a mouth, of a species known as "The Cerebellians") and Scott McCloud an alien who resmbles a human except with the semi-pointy ears and ruby eyes. Scotts race is currently unknown. He is the sarcastic, comical joker (Whom most fans seem to favour him in the show)

  • Lloyd Nebulon An average teenage boy who is just like an average teenage human boy; trying to keep up with teenage life. He says the word "Junk" often instead of saying stuff, things, etc. His mickey mouse antics and odd habits usually annoy Scott and most others. Voiced by Courtland Mead
  • Edward R. "Eddie" Horton - Lloyd's human friend who has red, wavy hair, the same height as Lloyd, tries to act cool all the time, has a sort of hip-hop voice and sometimes brags about his father being a police officer. He thinks himself as the ladies man. Voiced by Justin Shenkarow
  • Kurt Blobberts - Lloyd's large, purple, one-eyed friend who and is a tad on the dumb side but can take things out of his stomach from which he has eaten. Voiced by Bill Fagerbakke
  • Douglas McNoggin - Lloyd's friend who resembles a brain with glasses, arms, and legs, he is the smartest character in the show. Voiced by Pamela Hayden
  • Station - The space station's computer. When activated, he assumes the form of an eyeball attached to a long wire leading from any computer terminal. In series 5 onwards he somehow begins to become neurotic and oblivious to some of the sciency questions that Lloyd and the others ask him.
  • Scott McCloud - Lloyds rival. Scott is the humourous, yet sarcastic one of the group. He makes his appearance in the second episode of series four. He resembles a human but the name of his true species is unrevealed. He states that he is not human when Kurt is overjoyed for Eddie when he says that Scott is "another human kid" Scott will usually make a wise crack about anything whether he is in a good or bad mood. Scott first met Lloyd when they were only kindergardners at another school. The school that Lloyd left to go to Intrepidville. Since then Scott has held a firm but friendly rivalry with Lloyd. Douglas also mentions that Scott is one of the most arrogant people who have ever lived. Voiced by Jason Marsden.

  • Dunkirque - The second in command, a tough and obedient servant to Cmdr. Nebulon. Voiced by Dan Castellaneta.
  • Larry - The third in command, a purple humanoid who frequently acts childishly.
  • Boomer - Mechanic, repairs all spacecraft on Intrepidville. Simple-minded and an heir to his race's throne. Voiced by Diedrich Bader.
  • Lou 2000 - Station's bad-mouthed backup system, he picks on Larry.
  • Commander/Nora Lee Nebulon - Head of Intrepidville and Lloyd's mother. Voiced by April Winchell.
  • Francine Nebulon - Lloyd's younger and psychic sister.
  • Brittany - The snobby girl who has a secret crush on Lloyd (and vice versa, although Lloyd seems to show it more). Voiced by Anndi McAfee
  • Candy - Brittanys red, tough tomboyish friend who seems to have an interest in Scott Voiced by Tara Strong
  • Megan - Brittany's best friend. She is usually with her wherever she goes.
  • Cindy - The two-headed girl that Lloyd takes to the dance.
  • Rodney - The school bully who picks on nerds.
  • Mrs. Barbara Bolt - Lloyd's teacher at Luna Vista School.
  • Trevor - Scotts vain yet confident friend
  • Harry - Scotts shy and timid friend
  • Jenny - Scotts only female friend

There are many Recess references in the show. Many Recess voices are in the show. For example, Courtland Mead's voiced both Lloyd Nebulon and Gus Griswald. In the episode Day One, where Lloyd goes back in time to fix his past, his elementary school teachers name was Principal Pickley (a reference to Principal Prickley). Also Vince's team was called the Viper Sharks which also was the name of one of the races who were chasing an intergalactic superhero who actually was a fraud.
