Lo Barnechea, Chile

Lo Barnechea is a municipality (comuna) of the province of Santiago, part of the Santiago Metropolitan Region in Chile. It is located in the northeastern extremity of the province and contains some of Chile's fanciest neighborhoods (including La Dehesa, site of one of Pinochet's homes) as well as slums (poblaciones). The largest international school in Santiago, International School Nido de Aguilas is located in Lo Barnechea.

According to the 2002 census, Lo Barnechea has a population of 74,749. The population of the district grew by up to 50% since the previous census in 1992, and is expected to keep on rising quickly because of big urbanization projects now in place, such us in the exclusive neighborhood of La Dehesa.
