Loftus is a railway station on the CityRail Illawarra line. Located in the Sydney suburb of Loftus, it serves a residential area. It has two side platforms.

Loftus was the former junction of the branch line to the Royal National Park which opened in 1886[1] and branched off immediately south of the station. The branch line closed in 1991 when it was converted into a tram line and thus the connection to the Illawarra Line was severed. The tram line operates from the Sydney Tramway Museum, which sits beside the railway station.

Contents

The station is served by two trains per hour for most of the time, with additional trains at weekday peak hours.

The station has street access to both platforms, connected by an overbridge with ramps. This allows the station to classed as having partial Easy Access for wheelchairs.
