Lollicup
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lollicup Coffee and Tea, formerly known as Lollicup TeaZone, is a Taiwanese American fast food chain specializing in bubble tea, coffee, espresso, a large variety of fruit juices, slushes and smoothies, and a variety of other Asian-style cold and hot teas. In addition to the beverages, the chain also serves light meals. U.S. Headquarters are in Industry, CA.
Lollicup is often referred to as a quick-dump franchise, due to the low cost of owning a franchise, lack of support and lack of control over quality and store offerings. In addition to franchises, Lollicup branded teas and beverages are available for purchase at unaffiliated stores.
Many Lollicup locations are in predominantly Asian American communities, although some outlets may be found in non-Asian areas as the chain is expanding. Store locations are most common in California but are also found in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Texas, Utah, and Virginia. Lollicup opened its first store in San Gabriel, CA in 2000, but has grown such that as of August 2005, there are 50 stores in operation in California, over 20 operating stores outside of California, and 15 stores scheduled to open.
Some Lollicup locations, such as in Rancho Cordova, CA, offer Internet access through PC terminals located in the dining area.
A variety of similar competitor chains exist, including Quickly, Tapioca Express, and Q-Cup.
