Lomme is a town in northern France, which was absorbed as a commune associée by Lille in 2000. Its current population is about 30,000 inhabitants.
Lomme has been annexed to Lille in order to secure Martine Aubry's victory as Mayor of Lille. Historically, Lomme has been a left-wing city since 1945. Since Lille began to turn right-wing, the mayor of Lomme, Yves Durand (PS) accepted the devolution of his city, in exchange of a possible ministry position, would Martine Aubry have become Prime Minister.[citation needed]
